  • Sad news to report about poster bbqguy

    this is from Vegasboy:

It is with Great Sadness to report that BBQ passed away Sunday Morning. Mike has battled Stage 4 Cancer for 15 years. He was a tremendous fighter who Never wanted cancer to define him. He loved the Major wager forum, as it was a great place for him to contribute & not think about his cancer. His insight & humor will be missed on this forum. He absolutely Loved the Contests! BBQ was in tremendous pain over the years & he is now pain free. RIP BBQ

    From other thread.

R.I.P. BBQ. A great guy and poster. I will miss him. Sorry for your loss Vegasboy. He always mentioned you fondly and playfully. Kind of at a loss for words.

I'm sorry to hear about this. There is no way it would take 15 years for me. If I got cancer, I'd refuse any treatment and say see you later. Must have been very painful to have been a struggle to suffer for 14 years. Yes, it is good BBQ is no longer in pain. RIP.

Wow.. that sucks, he was way too young.
Glad that I got to hook up with him and Vegasboy a few years ago in Vegas. He knew everyone at the sportsbook, and they took good care of him.

-Always remember how we had a bet on the Tigers/Giants World series. Giants won, and he was to send me a Giants jersey for my son, but when it came, it was Pink.
I figured he was punking me and I called him out on it, only to hear that he knew I had a daughter also, so he sent her a Pink one that got delivered first, a few days later the Crawford jersey for my son arrived.
First thing when we connected in Vegas, I apologized, and we had a good laugh about it..

          Damn, RIP BBQ-

Hate to read something like this, although if he was in a lot of pain, at least he won't be suffering anymore. Knew him from the forum, and he played in my Dog Day contest every year I ran it, and it was a joy to have him as a contestant and I considered him a friend and a gentleman, even though I never had the privilege of actually meeting him. My condolences to his family and close friends, and just like the many other regular posters at Major Wager of fine character who have passed away over the years, he will be missed.

Hope you're having a blast on the other side BBQ,
            R.I.P.

I’ve been bummed out about this loss ever since I read Vegasboy’s post. bbqguy was always so polite in my dealings with him, I just learned that he was only 55 years old...what a shame. As others have said, we’ve sure lost a bunch of good people over the years. I sure wish we could find a cure for cancer
